Fair Use

Company will always take copyright issues seriously, both as a creator of content and as a user of other people's content. In fact, everything that appears on this site is copyright protected.

Nonetheless, our work is illegally reproduced every day on websites across the country. The federal Copyright Act protects our rights and our readers' rights to make fair use of copyrighted content. We have no issue with people who quote a portion of a story so as to comment on it, perhaps even criticize it. That's the essence of free speech in a vigorous democracy.

But fair use of our content restricts those who want to reference it to reproduce no more than a headline and a couple of paragraphs or a summary of the story. (We also request users provide a link to the entire work on our website). The fair use rule generally does not entitle users to display the whole story on their website. To do so is a violation of our copyright and we will use all legal remedies available to address these infringements.

Fair Use of Images/Videos

Fair use images &/or videos (WORKS) are open for users to adopt and publish. Works fall under fair use so long as particular guidelines are followed. These guideline categories typically include criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, education and research. As a small news outlet, Company falls under 1 or more of these categories.

Company sources Works in a number of ways. Either it's own original image/s, video's, the original source with permission, Google images searched under Creative Commons, Envato Elements, Adobe Stock images, Flickr, and/or Pexels.

However, we understand error's may occur. If there is a dispute with a Work and you are the original author, please contact us and we will be happy to remove the Work in question immediatly.

Finally, paying for Works. While Company would like to have deep pockets like big news organizations and pay the prices afforded by photographers &/or artists, we can't as we make little to no money. However, in regards to any Work dispute by the original author, we will be happy to ammend the Work in question to include correct author and link back to the original, or remove the Work in question.

This site may contain links to other sites on the Internet ("Linked Sites"). Company is not responsible for the content, advertising, products, or other materials made available on or through any Linked Site. The links to these sites are for your convenience only, and you access them at your own risk. Company shall not be held responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any loss or damage caused or alleged to have been caused to a user in connection with such Linked Sites.

28news.net's social media areas are provided to give users interesting and stimulating discourse in which they can express their opinions and share their ideas.
